NUR Macroprinters sells 500th NUR Salsa series wide-format printer
Lod, Israel; March 24, 2003 - NUR Macroprinters (Nasdaq: NURM), a leading supplier of wide-format inkjet production printing systems for the out-of-home advertising market, reports that it has recently installed the 500th unit in its cost-effective NUR SalsaT series of wide-format photo-realistic inkjet printers. In a related announcement, NUR Macroprinters announced that, in anticipation of the launch of the NUR UltimaT mid-range production printers later this year, the company has lowered the prices of printers in its entry-level NUR Salsa product line.
“Selling the 500th Salsa printer is a major milestone for us," says Ron Michael, vice-president of marketing at NUR Macroprinters Ltd. "We-ve come a long way with the NUR Salsa product line since our purchase of the former Salsa Digital-s assets in 2000. We-ve made many enhancements to the base system over the years, including embedding many of the technologies we pioneered in the NUR Fresco series- to take a solid product and give it even higher quality and productivity."
The ScreenTech Imaging division of Roeda Signs, Inc. in South Holland, Illinoisplaced the order for the 500th NUR Salsa printer, a NUR Salsa Ultima 3200 model, shortly after the SGIA 2002 exhibition in November 2002.
ScreenTech is the 20-year-old screen-printing division of Roeda Signs, a family-run commercial sign shop founded in 1954. ScreenTech specializes in the production of decals, point-of-purchase materials and computer cut vinyl graphics; its customers range from retailers to financial institutions. Until the installation of the NUR Salsa Ultima 3200 capable of printing up to 600 dpi apparent resolution and 3.2 meters (10 feet) wide, wide-format printing production at ScreenTech was limited to 52" wide output produced on two HP inkjet printers it installed three years ago.
Its initial success with the HP printers convinced ScreenTech to take a step up to production printing with a faster, wider format machine that produces output with outdoor durability. It is looking forward to exploring new applications and growing the wide-format digital printing side of its business. In particular it wants to be able to handle an increased volume of short-run, fast turnaround, customized jobs like very large banners and construction signage as a complement to its other capabilities.
According to Robert Roeda, CFO of Roeda Signs, Inc. and its ScreenTech division, representatives from the company attended SGIA 2002 in St. Louis with the purpose of researching and comparing the state-of-the-art in wide-format, photo-realistic printing. They selected the NUR Salsa because of its unique combination of image quality, speed and affordable price.
"We also liked the attitude of everyone we met at the company and knew this was an organization that was dedicated to ensuring our ongoing success," Roeda adds. "For example, NUR-s upgrade policy is very attractive because customers typically have a way to keep their machines at the state-of-the-art level. We-ll upgrade our new NUR Salsa to NUR UltimaT performance levels once the beta testing period for that machine is completed."
"In today-s economy customers investing in capital equipment are more concerned than ever about making the right decisions," says Ron Michael. "Our policy of providing upgrade paths for our systems is the best way we can help them protect their equipment investment from obsolescence."
The new NUR Ultima mid-range inkjet printers are designed to provide high levels of productivity while offering photo-realistic quality, simplified maintenance procedures, and improved ease-of-use. They are designed to feature apparent print resolution up to 600 dpi for high quality and will be capable of speeds up to 810 square feet (76 square meters) per hour for high throughput. NUR believes that their low ink consumption will mean lower operating costs, even in high speed printing modes. The ability to easily switch between 4- and 8-color printing will provide additional flexibility. The NUR Ultima printers are aimed at digital print service providers who are already using wide-format devices and are looking for the next step to increase their production capacity without sacrificing the quality and photo-realism they need.
Lower prices for NUR Salsa series
To set the groundwork for an introduction later this year for NUR Macroprinters- new mid-range production printers, NUR Ultima series, NUR has decided to lower the prices of its NUR Salsa entry-level printer models effective immediately. The new list price for the NUR Salsa Ultima 3200 is US$239,000 and the NUR Salsa Ultima 5000 is now list priced at US$319,000.
